As we enter into the New Year of 2015, many businesses and organizations are establishing plans for expansion and growth. One such telecom giant that is doing this is TDS Telecom. This entity is headquartered in Madison, WI, and is the seventh largest telecom in the United States. They offer television, telephone, Internet services, as well as bundled packages. They currently have 1.1 million connections already established. TDS has three corporate divisions as well. These are OneNeck IT Solutions, LLC, TDS Baja Broadband LLC, and BendBroadband. The company currently employs 3,300 people.
For its expansion plans, the company is going to lay down some 900 miles of cabling in 2015. This is in an effort to support its deployment of 1Gbps Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) services. TDS has already buried an additional 900 miles of cabling just this year alone, and plans to leverage it in order to serve more communities.
A key differentiating factor that TDS Telecom brings to the table is its approach in delivering quality customer service. For instance, while the much larger telecoms, such as AT&T and Google, have been focusing on the larger markets, TDS has been honing in on the smaller, underserved ones. These include cities such as Hollis, NH, and Mt. Juliet, TN. These are also known as “Tier 2” and “Tier 3” markets.
TDS’s ultimate business objective is to serve rural markets with high speed internet, where only DSL services are currently being provided. According to a product manager at TDS, “Instead of the larger metropolitan areas, we are making 1 Gig service available in nearby, smaller and more rural communities.”
